6.67-inch 3D Curved AMOLED Display With 120Hz Refresh Rate
One of the biggest highlights of the Lava Virat Curve 5G is its 6.67-inch FHD+ 3D Curved AMOLED display.
The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour depth and up to 1.07 billion colours.
Lava has rated the display for up to 1100 nits peak brightness, which should help with visibility when using the phone outdoors.
There is also 1920Hz PWM dimming.
PWM dimming controls screen brightness by rapidly switching pixels on and off. A higher PWM frequency can help reduce noticeable flickering for some users, particularly at lower brightness levels.
Rear Mini Screen Makes the Lava Virat Curve 5G Stand Out
The feature that immediately makes the Lava Virat Curve 5G look different is the Rear Mini Screen.
The small display on the back can show notifications, battery percentage, charging status, volume information and the clock.
Users can also display custom text and emojis.
This means some basic information can be checked without waking up the main display.
It also gives the Virat Curve 5G a design element that is easier to notice compared with the usual camera island found on most smartphones.
MediaTek Dimensity 7100 Processor
Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor.
This is a 6nm octa-core chipset clocked at up to 2.4GHz.
Lava claims that the phone can score more than 800,000 points on AnTuTu.
AnTuTu is a benchmarking application that tests different parts of smartphone performance, including CPU, GPU, memory and storage.
Benchmark numbers are useful for comparisons, although actual performance can also depend on software optimisation and thermal management.
6GB LPDDR5 RAM With Virtual RAM
The phone comes with 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB internal storage.
Lava also offers up to 6GB Virtual RAM.
Virtual RAM uses a portion of the phone’s internal storage as temporary memory.
It can help keep additional applications in the background, although it is not as fast as actual physical RAM.
Lava Vayu AI Comes Built In
The Lava Virat Curve 5G also introduces Vayu AI.
Lava describes Vayu AI as a more natural and user-focused AI experience designed to make AI features easier to access.
The company says a more refined version of Vayu AI will arrive through a future software update.
Lava’s new user interface and a native Gallery application are also expected through an upcoming software update.
6000mAh Battery With 45W Fast Charging
Battery capacity is another strong point.
The Lava Virat Curve 5G packs a 6000mAh battery, which is larger than the batteries traditionally seen in slimmer smartphones.
Lava claims up to 55 hours of talk time, around 11 hours of continuous YouTube playback and up to 720 hours of standby time.
The smartphone supports 45W fast charging.
There is one detail worth knowing. Lava includes a 33W charger in the box, even though the phone itself supports charging at up to 45W.
Users wanting to use the maximum supported charging speed will need a compatible charger.
50MP Sony IMX752 Camera With 2K Video Recording
The primary rear camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX752 sensor.
It also supports EIS, short for Electronic Image Stabilisation.
EIS uses software processing to reduce visible shaking while recording videos.
The Virat Curve 5G can record video at up to 2K resolution.
Camera features include Night Mode, Pro Video, Dual-View Video, Motion Photo and Sports Mode.
On the front, Lava has added a 13MP selfie camera with screen flash support.
Android 16 With No Ads and No Bloatware
The Lava Virat Curve 5G runs Android 16.
Lava says the phone comes without unwanted pre-installed applications and advertisements.
The company is promising 2 years of Android OS upgrades along with 3 years of security updates.
An in-display fingerprint sensor is included, along with Face Unlock.
IP64 Rating and MIL-STD-810H Certification
Durability is another area Lava is highlighting.
The Virat Curve 5G comes with IronGuard Protection and Al-Si DT Star 2 cover glass.
It also carries MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification.
The phone has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance.
IP64 protection means the phone is designed to handle dust and water splashes, but it is not designed for underwater use.
Despite the large 6000mAh battery, the smartphone weighs 184 grams.
Dual Stereo Speakers and IR Blaster
The Lava Virat Curve 5G features dual stereo speakers along with dual-mic noise cancellation.
There is also an IR blaster.
An IR blaster allows a smartphone to work like a remote control for compatible TVs and other home appliances when used with supported applications.
Lava Virat Curve 5G Free Service at Home
Lava is also offering its Free Service @ Home facility with the Virat Curve 5G.
The service provides doorstep after-sales support across India.
The handset comes with a 1-year replacement warranty, while accessories get a 6-month warranty.
Lava Virat Curve 5G: What Makes It Interesting
The Lava Virat Curve 5G enters one of India’s most competitive smartphone price segments.
Its biggest differentiator is clearly the Rear Mini Screen, which gives the phone a more distinctive look.
The 3D curved AMOLED display, 6000mAh battery, Dimensity 7100 processor, Sony camera sensor and Android 16 also make the specification list interesting at the ₹19,999 launch price.
The only detail buyers need to keep in mind is charging. The smartphone supports 45W charging, but Lava supplies a 33W charger inside the box.
The Lava Virat Curve 5G sale starts on September 28 at 7 PM.
